I've always wanted to visit Germany, but would I be looked down upon since I can't speak any German?

  1. most speak a bit of english,unlike the french who might be fluent in english but wont talk to you in english


  2. Probably not, chances are people in German would be eager to speak English to you.  But, you should learn some common phrases and words at least.

  3. I doubt it. In my experience, people in Germany are usually friendly to foreigners. They will probably be willing to speak English to you.

  4. No that won't happen as in every country around this planet there are a few people who don't like foreigners Germany is no exception to that.

    But a lot of Germans emigrated to the US or other countries and most time their children or grand children don't speak German so it is a rather common thing to meet people having German names who can't speak German.
