The gun was found by my grandfather 50 years ago. We think it is a muzzleloader. On one side where the there is a label that say: Henry Parker Warranted. It has a 36 mm barrel. Can you someone help us figure out what this gun really is and how old it is?

Thank you,

  1. its not a muzzleloader, if u think the caliber is 36 mm.  it would be a rifle.  look on the barrel for any kind of writing. it should be at the beginning by the stock and directly above the trigger.  the name of the gun, the year, and the caliber, and where is was made should be stamped in the barrel.  DONOT!!!!! i repeat, donot use any kind of household cleaner to wipe off the barrel.  u NEED to use gun cleaning solution.  then u need to use a blueing oil to put back on the barrel. this protects it from rusting. and it also needs to be cleaned inside the barrel to remove any rust.  if the gun is worth any money, its best to clean it the best u can.  if u donot know how to do this, take it to someone u know, or to a gun-smith u can trust. make sure u get any kind of reciept from the gun-smith to prove he has ur gun.  there are places that will appraise ur gun.  u just need to find someone that does guns.  hopefully i was some help.  have a good day
