What other options (websites please) to cover Medical on the cruise, cancellation of the flight and if the cruise is extended due to weather, rebooking of another flight------other than Carnival's insurance carrier?

  1. go to insuremytrip.com for a site that compares lots of companies. it is a good idea to shop around and not just take the cruiselines offer. Also if you are flying in, check for independent flights do not automatically take theirs. Fly in the day before because its terrible to lose even one day to mechanical, weather or overbooking delays even if they are covered by insurance.

  2. It might be a good idea to call any travel agent and ask them to get you some good insurance.  they will get you the best deal out there and are not restricted to only offering you one or two types.  they will be able to get you what you need and i know my travel agent is free so i dont think you will have to pay for their services.  if carnival isnt offering you what you need then it would be a good idea to go to another professional

  3. Cruises have so many variables, that travel insurance can be a very worth while investment.  My family has had to file a claim before and we were glad to have had it.

That being said, I don't buy through the cruise line either.  Why put them in the food chain?  They'll earn enough from you through on-board revenue.

Here is a site that shops and compares travel insurance from many companies apple-to-apple.

Good luck and have a great time.

  4. I haven't ever cruised on Carnival, but I go on Royal Caribbean all the time.  Their insurance is really cheap and covers just about everything imaginable.  I don't know why I would want to search out other options.  Well, wait, my travel agent got me the insurance so maybe, he searched the other options for me!  I believe it is through AIG.  Hope that helps.
