It's happened a couple of times before. The noise comes from the monitor. What is happening to it? This is a used computer. It's a least 3 or 4 years old. I believe it's a Hewlett Packard monitor and it is a Compaq tower. I don't know what all information to supply here.

  1. If this is a CRT monitor its' eht transformer may be failing, or a short onto its' tube shield from the eht connector colud cause this. If it is the latter, condensation often leaves carbon traces round the connector. It can be prevented by placing an insulating grease around the connection. This is VERY HIGH voltage and must be discharged carefully before you go near it, and I have seen a CRT store EHT for months, giving someone enough of a burn to be dangerous after that time.
