My father claimed me as a dependent on his taxes. Will i get any of the money i paid to taxes back?

i live with my dad and i'm 18. I turned 18 back in january if it makes a difference. my father claimed me as a dependent. Can i recoup any of the money i paid in taxes?

You will receive all that money back that exceeds your tax liability.  If you made less than $5350, you will receive all of your withholding.

You won't receive the stimulus payment, though.

Im pretty sure that if someone else claims you as a dependant that you are not entitled to any money you have paid in for taxes! i may be wrong but im pretty sure thats how it works

It depends on how much you had withheld, and how much your tax is for the year.  If more was withheld than you owe, then yes you get the overpayment refunded.

Possibly.  

If it was legal for your father to claim you, then it is illegal for you to claim yourself, and would have been even if he had not claimed you (it would be legal for you to claim yourself only if it was illegal for him to claim you).  Additionally, your standard deduction may be reduced.

If the amount that was withheld for taxes was more than your actual tax, you will get a refund if you file.

If your actual tax is more than what was withheld, then you are required to file and to pay the difference.

If you look at your W-2 from your employer, in Box 2, there should have been Federal Tax Withheld

if you filled out a W-4 when you started working there. All or most of that should go back to you, even if your parents claimed you. If not, and your job paid you on a 1099-M or in cash, then since you would have had no tax withheld, there would be no refund.

You have to check that you were claimed as a dependent.
