My father claims to be a descendant of the Nachez indian tribe, how could we prove it and get benefits from the tribe?

If you possibly know where the nachez tribe was or is located you could write a letter to the bureau of Indian affairs in that state.  If not you could possibly contact the Mississippi Historical Society, where at one time there were nachez Indians schools in Mississippi and maybe they could send you in the right direction. Hope maybe this can help in some way.

    Read the fine print, lower on the page.  Proving descendency with valid documents is not enough.. there are normally requirements relating to the Dawes Rolls, or other earlier tribal affiliation.  

    You need to contact them for specifics.

  3. Federal Native-American records are archived at the Federal Records Warehouse in Fort Worth, Texas. The State of Oklahoma also has a treasure of Native-American Records. There are many books written that explain the steps in the research that you must do. Begin at a large Library in your area.
