As mentioned above, my father left a will, and named myself as an executor. I have since received the Grant of Probate. My brother and I have decided to sell the house and we have put it on the market this week.

The one quesion I have is regardin the deeds of the house, which are still being held in safekeeping in my fathers bank (mortgage paid off). What do we have to do with the deeds, do we need to get the names changed, or will this all be done by my solicitor if the house sells. Any help will be gratefully appreciated, have managed to sort out my fathers estate by myself but not too sure when it comes to selling a house and deeds. Thanks I live in England.

  1. when you sell the house your solicitor will need the deeds, he will see to all the turn over for you

  2. Sorry to hear of your loss.

In England paper title deeds are now superflous as the Land Registry is computer based. Your solicitor will arrange for the name change.

  3. go to bank and inform them of your news and also your solicitor will/should advise you.
