  1. go to www.unitedstatesvisas.gov.

It will walk you through everything. And no, you do not need your father's petition to visit.

Only if you are planning on becoming a citizen and then it is a different type of Visa and you would need his petition.

  2. If you were not entitled to acquire citizenship from your father, then whether or not you can get a US tourist visa will depend entirely on your situation in your own country:  how well-established you are, and how likely you are to return home after a short visit.  The fact that he has not petitioned for you does not weigh very heavily in your favor:  your life in your own country does.

  3. As far as I know, all he has to do is walk down to an embassy with you, and you are a citizen. Just have to show proof that he is a U.S Citizen. This is just from what I am seeing.

  4. Do try to get a visitors visa first. It will cost less to try, and once your on american soil he can apply for a 'change of status' visa for you. This also involves needing a credible sponcer, and lots of fees, but you can also at that time apply for working visas and immigration. If he apply's for you before you are on american soil, the government can take as long as they please to let you come and you wont be able to apply for ANY other type of visas!  Good Luck
