My fax machine wont work?

Hi, im trying to send a fax through my machine but it doesnt seem to be working it has to phone jack ports one with a picture of a phone and another with a picture of the thing you plug the other side of the phone jack into. when i put it into the one with a photo of a phone it beeps then says that there was no answer from the fax (but im contacting blizzard so i think they would have it on auto answer). when i put it in the other port i get a message saying that the company needs a verification code (which i dont think it does)

the number im trying to send it to is [phone] i also put a 1 in front of it please help

Plug a regular phone into the wall jack you're trying to use to be sure it works.  See if you get dial tone and can make and receive calls from that line.  If that works, then plug the phone cable from the fax to the wall jack.  The jack on the fax with the picture of the phone is NOT the one to use.  That's where you can plug in a phone if you wish to have a phone access to the line the fax is connected to.  If the fax still doesn't work then plug the phone into the jack on the fax that has the picture of the phone by it and see if the phone works through the fax machine.  You may have a wiring problem from the fax to the wall jack.  Try another cable to connect the fax to the wall jack.  The one you have may be bad.
