Question:

My feet sweat and that makes my shoes stink. I have new shoes and I want to keep them fresh. Help?

Both shoes have heels, so wearing socks with them is not an option, but I can wear hose or trouser socks, perhaps.

As for shoe sprays sometimes I wonder if these only make the smells worse.

How can I keep my shoes smelling sweet forever?

  1. If your foot funk is severe, it could be a sign of athlete's foot or a fungal infection. Get some anti-fungal creme or spray and follow the directions.(you can find this in the foot section of your grocery or drug store) Also, you may need to get rid of your funky shoes as they may re-infect the skin on your feet. Wash your socks with hot water with bleach, and lastly let your feet breathe as often as possible by wearing airy shoes or going barefoot.

  2. Use a foot powder or talcum powder in your shoes.

  3. You can try sprinkling some baking soda in them once in a while and set them outside to air out. Baking soda absorbs bad odor.

  4. When the feet are tired and do not get air they sweat. it is natural. have ventilated shoes.

  5. Foot powder - absolutely!  Put it on BEFORE you put on your hose/trouser socks.  You don't need a lot.

  6. Try foot powder ?

  7. Alternate wearing shoes.

Place shoes on patio or balcony for a couple of hours after wearing to air them out.

Use clean dry hose or trouser socks that have been laundered between wearing (you'd be surprised how many people don't do that!)

Get insoles by Dr. Scholl or another brand like Odor Eaters.  Not only will they absorb odor, they also provide some cushion and support.

  8. There are insert pads, Dr. Scholls ? that eliminate foot odor.

  9. Sprinkle baby powder in them every time before you wear them. (If you don't like the smell you can also get any of the foot powders.) It smells good and soaks up any sweat as you sweat so that it doesn't have time to start stinking.
