My feet turn out when i run on the treadmill......and lately my ankles have been killing me.

I really onmly run 25 mins. at around 6.5 speed, but my ankles turn out as I run and have been killing me lately.

What sort of running shoes would be best, or is this a serious problem?

  1. ok go 2 the local shoe store like good feet store or new ballence theyre rele great and supportive 4 ur feet. they have insoles u can buy 2 2 correct that

  2. Good you asked, this is a very fatal situation. Try running backwards, it develops other muscles to get your feet system balanced.

Any running shoes will do, just be comfortable.

  3. DON'T GET NIKE SHOX....those shoes just look pretty but they aren't good at all. Nike lost sight of what a running shoe should really be when they made those shoes, and running backwards is great and dandy (it strengths a lot of other muscles, most importantly your hamstrings) but it doesn't do anything to the muscles that will make your feet turn out.

My feet turn out as well when I run. I went to a Dr and he had me sit with my legs straight out and my toes pointed straight up. Than he had me look at my knees and tell me what was wrong. My knees looked like the pointed in towards each other. He called it the scientific name than he said that was to hard to say and he called it winked patellas cause they look like they are winking at each other.

but anyways because my knees were pointing and your knee has to bend straight when you run that caused my feet to point out when I ran. I also had a lot of problems with my ankles including sprains, fractures, and a ruptured nerve. Believe it or not orthotics fixed my problem. Go to a podiatrist and have him make a costum pair for you. Good luck.

  4. First of all... Nike shox are c**p- you dont see any SERIOUS runners wearing them.

With that said- try to find a specialty running store where they can study your gait as your run and pick out a good pair of shoes/insoles/orthotics for your feet.  I actually had the problem of my feet turning inward when I ran, and once I hit 30 miles/week of training, I developed a wicked tendonitis that I've been seeing a physical therapist for for the past 2 months!!  I ended up having to get orthotics for over pronation.  Sounds like you may have a supination issue though... ASICS and New Balance are great shoes for foot stability issues, but make sure you get your gait looked at by a professional before you end up with a severe injury!!

  5. wear nike shox. they are the best training shoe ever
