Question:

My fellow Australians?

Are any of you just as shocked as me to know how early some other countries' doctors are willing to induce?

Or is is just my area?

Where I live (near Melbourne, Victoria) A doctor won't even think about a possible induction, until you are at the very LEAST 41 weeks, and even then it has to be a pretty important reason!

(Not having a go at people getting induced early, just asking if it was just my area or not that doesn't do it so early)

I think my midwife would laugh in my face if I said I wanted an early induction, due to being uncomfortable!

  1. im glad i was not the only one to think exactly that whilst reading a question earlier....thankfully the longest i have gone over was a few days but from i have heard from many people, i would prefer the discomft for the benefit of a natural birth...

  2. I live in Ballarat and when i ask about being induced due to the fact we where offered a great job in SA  and we where meant to start the day we are due we where told that they wouldn't unless there was medical reasons. I was told that private was the some. Interesting what Charlie has said.

  3. im sorry but your incorrect. i live in melbourne and my obstetrician would induce or even give me elective c section if i wanted at 38.5 weeks. if your in the private hospitals they WILL. thats why i didnt want midwives!! you have more choice after all its your body.,
