My fellow Roman Catholics, will Rome lose the faith and become the seat of the anti-Christ?

On September 19, 1846, the Mother of God appeared to two young shepherds, Melanie Calvat and Maximin Giraud, on the heights of the mountain of La Salette in France. During the apparition, Our Lady fortells to the young children, "Rome will lose the faith and will become the seat of Antichrist."

Many traditional Catholics who hold the sedevacantist position believe that the changes in the Church were so dramatic that the Church departed from Her traditional teachings and became a new sect. Traditionalists believe that the one true Church of Christ has been reduced to a small handful due to the Vatican II apostasy. St. Athanasius said "even if Catholics faithful to Tradition are reduced to a handful, they are the ones who are the true Church of Jesus Christ." The seven hills in Rome are the seven heads mentioned in Scripture. Could it be true that there truly is no Pope, that the True Church really has been reduced to a handful (traditionalists), that the physical buildings of the church are taken over by Satan, and that Rome will truly become the seat of the Antichrist?

  1. are prayers are with you

  2. Every apparition, as well as the prophecies that might be revealed there, are subject to speculation.

At the same time, everyone has an opinion.

I've evaluated the arguments of the sedevacantists and found them wanting, even though there's plenty of apostasy within the Catholic Church.

Athanasius was just about the only non-heretic bishop of his time, so things were even worse, then.

As for the seven hills ... you may believe that's what's mentioned in scripture ... but I say it remains to be proved.

As for all the rest ... Jesus promised that the gates of h**l would never prevail against his Church.

I'll take that on faith. You should too.

  3. No, the Pope is not the antichrist, the Chair of Peter is not vacant. But, being a traditional Catholic myself, it would appear and even the modern popes (John Paul, Paul) said that the smoke of Satan has entered the Church. Honestly look, Pope John Paul went to a prayer gathering where a Buddha Idol was placed on the altar next to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament! It would appear that traditional Catholics, being somewhat of outlaws, or schismatics, or SSPXers the modernist call us, they lost the faith, we have it. If Mary the Mother of God, so said so, I cannot refuse Her. Yet, what I think she means is the antichrist will infiltrate the church (like the modernist and communist) and then be elected Pope. Mary has mentioned the same message continuously so what is to come must be something we do not know because as Our Lady of Good Success, Akita, Fatima they are the same warnings.

  4. NEVER.  "And I say to thee: That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of h**l shall not prevail against it."

  5. God has no mother.

  6. I thought you guys already decided Obama was the anti-christ.

  7. the Mother of God?

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?

  8. Too late for this warning...

  9. I see we have a David Hunt fan here. . . very well.

Hunt argues that the w***e "is a city built on seven hills," which he identifies as the seven hills of ancient Rome. This argument is based on Revelation 17:9, which states that the woman sits on seven mountains.

The Greek word in this passage is horos. Of the sixty-five occurrences of this word in the New Testament, only three are rendered "hill" by the King James Version. The remaining sixty-two are translated as "mountain" or "mount." Modern Bibles have similar ratios. If the passage states that the w***e sits on "seven mountains," it could refer to anything. Mountains are common biblical symbols, often symbolizing whole kingdoms (cf. Ps. 68:15; Dan. 2:35; Amos 4:1, 6:1; Obad. 8–21). The Whore’s seven mountains might be seven kingdoms she reigns over, or seven kingdoms with which she has something in common.

The number seven may be symbolic also, for it often represents completeness in the Bible. If so, the seven mountains might signify that the w***e reigns over all earth’s kingdoms.

Even if we accept that the word horos should be translated literally as "hill" in this passage, it still does not narrow us down to Rome. Other cities are known for having been built on seven hills as well.

Even if we grant that the reference is to Rome, which Rome are we talking about—pagan Rome or Christian Rome? As we will see, ancient, pagan Rome fits all of Hunt’s criteria as well, or better, than Rome during the Christian centuries.

Now bring in the distinction between Rome and Vatican City—the city where the Catholic Church is headquartered—and Hunt’s claim becomes less plausible. Vatican City is not built on seven hills, but only one: Vatican Hill, which is not one of the seven upon which ancient Rome was built. Those hills are on the east side of the Tiber river; Vatican Hill is on the west.

  10. Impossible, unless you believe tht Christ is a liar. He said that the gates of h**l will not prevail against the Church and that the Church is the "bulwark and ground of the truth. He said that the Church would endure for all times. How can anyone believe in someone who lied and still remain in faith?

He calls us to be obedient to His Church and even prayed His last prayer in the garden that we all be one in His Church. Satan may be in the Church among the tares but He can never destroy the Church which is and will remain the ark of humanity against an evil world. God bless!

    In Christ
