  1. We are not coming out of an ice age, we are in the middle of what scientists call an ice age.  What we are now experiencing is an inter glaciation, which generally lasts around 10,000 years.    Our current inter glaciation is more than 8,000 years old, meaning according to the natural pattern a new glaciation should be less than 2,000 years away and we would be on a cooling trend.  The reason we are warming can not be blamed on coming out of an ice age, if we want a reason for the warming all we have to do is look in a mirror.

  2. Global warming is not a problem, much less a major problem. It is a natural cycle. I guess if you are religous you could pray.

  3. We can invent new energy sources, which we will have to do anyway when the oil runs out.

  4. Whether it is natural or human-caused, there probably isn't much that we can do to halt the climate change.  (Mind that it is not only warming, but in some areas, also cooling.)  I for one think that it is a combination of the two: there is a natural cycle at work, yet humans are accelerating it -- and also impacting other species' ability to adapt to the changes, including our own.  Perhaps we've broken the primal rule: never do something that you cannot undo.  We've climbed up that tree, but do we know how to get back down again?  And since our developments both socially and scientifically seem to greatly depend on the charismatic abilities of its leaders, it is hard to say what we will or won't be capable of fixing in the future.  We have the money and we have the brains to fix many of these issues -- what we need is the will.

In the meantime, what we CAN do is create some changes within ourselves to go along with the shifting climate.  One thing climate change has done is it has risen the overall awareness the average citizen has of the relationship between humans and the environment.  That we do in fact have a significant impact on it, sometimes very negative.  The most that the average citizen can really do as of now is try to make their own personal impact as neutral as possible.  That means investing in renewable energy, recycling, taking keen interest in conservation, "living green", and so forth.  We must remain aware of our influence on nature's many cycles and systems.  And we must refrain from becoming careless, as we have already done more than our share of that.  We are going to have to learn to adapt to our environment again -- rather than trying to adapt the environment to ourselves.

  5. Wrong all the proof is a lie.

  6. You can first look up historical climate changes and see for your self that it is a cycle and that it is only going to get warmer due to the fact that we are coming out of an ice age...you have research the past to answer the questions  of the future...we will get to the point where we will not be getting warmer anymore and it will start to cool and that is the cycle....what will the world want us to do then.

  7. Global warming is a phantom issue. It has NOT been scientifically proven ever. It is just a hypothesis, just like evolution. All of their claims are just guesses. You know they claim that it is heating up at the north and south pole's, yet the average temperature in Antarctica has dropped 1 degree celcius over the last 5 years. If anything we are headed to an ice age, not to a warming trend.  We do however need to be more responsible, and I think some of the best ways would be to force automakers to create more electric and hybrid vehicles. The only way to force this would be to eliminate all of the government subsidized loans that have been given to the auto industry, and only offer them if the comapny has 50% of their auto's be hybrid or electric. We have the ability to do these things but people are slow to make the change. The government should also offer assistance to the companies the manufactur the batteries and other items that are part of the electric and hybrid vehicle industries.

  8. For starters, we can pray that our government will find a way to change the type of gasoline we use.

Secondly, our government needs to find a better filteration system for the industrial pollution that is giving off those chemical gases.

  9. There is nothing we can do, and it is not a major problem.  The earth has warmed 0.6*C in the last century, and this cooling was not even constant.  There was some very quick warming in the early part of the century, followed by cooling in the middle of the century, and more warming at the end of the century.  How is this a major problem?

If you compare this recent warming with past warming (see attached link) you'll see that a 0.6*C warming trend in 100 years is relatively minor compared to some of the warming and cooling swings over the last 10,000 years.  If you look at the antarctic data, you can see a temperature rise of 2.2*C in 100 years starting about 400 years ago.  You'll also see that the antarctic temperature over the last 10,000 years has constantly been swinging in a range of 2*C above and below current temperatures.

If you look at the greenland temperatures, you'll see that greenland temperatures were warmer than present for MOST of the last 10,000 years.  So if temperature has been in a constant state of warming and cooling swings over the last 10,000 years (and over all of the earths history) why is a the minute amount of warming that the earth is currently experiencing a major problem?

  10. If by "solve" you mean "prevent" global warming, we can't. The current global warming cycle is NOT being caused by our civilization. Global warming/cooling is a natural phenomenon that the Earth has experienced countless times in the past. There's a ton of hard, scientific evidence that shows this. Our civilization may be accelerating the current cycle and perhaps making it more severe, but we can NOT stop it from happening.

  11. Bob neglected to cite the prediction that Global Warming is going to be around for a milennia regardless of what we do or don't do.  So for now you might as well do exactly what Al Gore and Leonardo DiCaprio are doing:  creating awareness.  And unless you're rich like them, all you can afford to do is put a FIGHT GLOBAL WARMING bumper sticker on your SUV and stop worrying about it.

  12. Conserve energy.

Develop alternative energy sources; nuclear, solar, wind, biofuels.

Develop means to capture (sequester) carbon dioxide.

We're good at figuring out how to do stuff like this.  If we had a major government institute to work on the technology, we could make a profit on our investment selling the technology to others.

And global warming is a scientific fact. This is science.  Opinions don't prove anything.  "logical" arguments don't prove anything.  The data is what's important and the scientific data says global warming is happening and it's mostly caused by us.

    Very short version:

The best summary of the data available:

Scientists have seen much stranger things than global warming proved to be true by data.  So the data, not "logical" arguments, is what they go by.  The data is why why the vast majority of scientists agree that it's real and mostly caused by us.  Data about that here:

If you want to know more, here's the best website (warning - it's very big) with lots of data:
