My female beta doesn't look good?

She is normally a burgundy kinda deep purple. And now she kinda had a milky look to her. It was around her belly at first and now its moved to her whole body. I put some Splendid Betta BettaFix remedy in her bowl hoping that will help and I also change her water regularly. What could be wrong?

Thank you in advance!

  1. my beta fish lived for 6 years healthy

  2. she could be dying. My beta turned all white before he died. how old is she

  3. Okay, this just happened to me. I read that BettaFix is actually not good for Bettas so first thing to do is clean the whole tank again (and I mean take plants and rocks out and make sure it's very very clean before putting them back in) Have you changed the filter lately? Buying a new to change when you clean the tank is recommended. Do you have snails? If you do, remove them all and don't ever put them back in the tank, snails cause bacteria in the water and harm the fish (this happened to me) try feeding it little pieces of pea (yes the vegetables, taw it out and smush the inside and put some in the tank) It cleans their stomach. Good Luck and hope your fish gets better.

  4. google will help for this one, betas are notorious for getting fungi on them, seriously. google beta sites, theyll help ya out.

  5. make sure that you aren't using pure tap water

  6. could just be something wrong with that particular fish, buy another they are like 5 dollars at walmart...

  7. First never change all the water then cleaning out the tank, you need to maintain some of the PH level so only change out half.  additionally never use tap water unless you have some form of treatment that makes it safe of beta use.

P.s. when changing the water it is vital that you use the same temp water, so you dont shock the fish.

    GOOD LUCK

  8. She might have ick.

I might have spelt it wrong, but it's reffered to as that. The fish begins to look like it's molding after a while. Usually they turn lighter in color, and then under their fins and such they begin to have almost a white fungus around them.

It is treatable, and very common in fish bowls. Try not to use tap water, as it might agitate whatever it is, though. Go into PetsMart or any fish supply store, and ask them about Ick. They have tablets, where you simply drop them in the water, and the fish naturally "inhales" it, and begins to return to normal. I might be wrong, so ask a person who knows a lot about fish. But hey its not a hard thing to do, so try that while researching a little more. Hope that helps, and hope your fish gets better =)
