  1. What you have to keep in mind is that ferrets are naturally nocturnal animals so are more active in the evening.  You can play with them more during the day to get them more accustomed to being up during the day otherwise they will keep on their normal schedule.

  2. When you say always asleep how much of the day do your mean?

If the ferret is lethargic you should take them to a vet, naturally ferrets are playful animals and if he does not have an interest in playing it is a good sign he/she may not be feeling well.

The vet will depending on age of the ferret will likely do a physical exam, blood glucose test and possibly want blood work or X-rays.

You didn't list how often the ferret is up, ferrets do sleep a lot and tend to be heavy sleepers. How much sleep they get depends on the individual ferret but anywhere between 12-16 hours a day is fairly normal.

Ferrets are actually diurnal meaning they are most active at dusk and dawn (a polecats natural hunting time) but will adapt to your schedule.

Good luck, I hope it's nothing serious!

  3. Just play with him more often. He probably sleeps because he is bored. Keep him busy and entertained.
