  1. The only safe flea products, but not are licensed for use on ferrets are Advantage, Revolution, and Frontline - have been used successfully by ferret owners, but there are still precautions to take.

Ferrets have died from flea bombs used in hotel rooms where owner have stayed at.

Never use any flea treatment on a ferret intended for use on other animals. Ferrets are very sensitive to insecticides, so you can't use all the same products you might use for cats and dogs.

The insecticides that have poisoned ferrets include (but are not limited to) pyrethroids, fipronil, hydramethylnon, and sulfluramid. Other products, such as BioSpot and Defend, are more toxic and may not be safe for your ferret. Beware of flea-control products that contain organophosphates, carbamates, or petroleum distillates, which are dangerous for ferrets. And flea collars and flea dips should NEVER be used on a ferret. Advantix - this product is NOT safe for ferrets nor cats.
