She had 2 babies yesterday and I thought she still looked fat and expected to find more today. There are still only 2 and I expected at least 10 with the size of her.I am worried as she still looks fat but is eating and looking after her babies.

  1. the average ferret has 6-8 babies per litter

if it is her very first litter then that might be normal

you should take her too the vet to be sure

  2. If this is her first litter then yeah this can happen. But you should ALWAYS do a follow up with your Vet just to make sure she and the babies are ok after any birth.

Although if you don't know much about ferrets and breeding you shouldn't be doing it. There are WAY too many unwanted ferrets out the as it is. And there can be major health problems for females if they are unaltered....You should really talk to your Vet and see what he says about everything.

  3. feel for more babbies. If you feel more, go to the vet ASAP to have them removed. they can kill mom. But if its her first litter, they start out small. Just like rabbits. My rabbits first litter was onlt one. Then 2, and the last one was 4 bunnys. the more pregnancies, the more babbies.

    Also...

When you breed, but the female in the male cage. watch them breed, and then 6-12 hours, do it again. This will increase the babbies.

  4. if its her first then they are small coz the ferrit isnt used to being pregnant so she cant handle alot    it could just be because she has just given birth that she still has the stomace if u can feel babies take her to the vets imedietly   so she doesnt get hurt or worse comes to worse she could end up passing away and im sure u dont want that
