My fiance' had a blister under his toenail and now after popping it is festered and swollen.?

His toes is blood red around the edges and his toenail is yellow almost green. it is also raised completely up like it is going to fall off, also,underneath the nail it is p***y and crusty. Really nasty and he can hardly walk. Please tell him what could happen.

Infections can spread into your blood stream causing sepsis (blood poisoning) and death...  Or they can spread to the bone which leads to amputation of the toe/toes and or foot or even leg...   or it can lead to Gangrene and this also leads to amputation

It sounds like it is infected. He needs to get to the doctor ASAP.

Unless it starts to go black, it can be salvaged. Blackness is when oxygenated bloodflow has stopped  and that means amputation.

It still has a bloodflow so he should get to the hospital and get some antibiotic treatment and an onychectomy (nail avulsion). If he popped the haematoma himself he is foolish, if it was done at a hospital, someone is responsible for putting the damage right.

Just to stress: a toe with a blood supply does NOT require amputation.

well he could get it infected and have it cut off.... but im 13 and i dont know that much....    maybe you could answer this please im sorta desperate....

well it is infected now, so if it isn't treated the toe would need to be amputated. If the toe isn't treated or amputated then the whole foot may need to be amputated if the infection gets into the bone. SEE A DOCTOR!!
