My credit score is less than that. I work from home making 2-4 hundred a week, he makes about 400 a week doing security, he has pay check stubs for that job... but the part time job he gets paid cash.... we are trying to build our credit to buy a home.. so we only want to sign a 6 month lease for now.... Can we get in to a descent apartment complex with a pool, work out room, ect? Or should we just not try and save our 35 dollar app fees?

Thank You!

  1. You cannot get into a decent apartment complex with those credit scores and that income.

  2. I'd suggest that you SAVE your application fee.... especially with that low of a credit score at this time ....

IF you really want to move ; try going thru an individule who has a house , apartment ect .for rent ....

They have ads all over Craigslist.org, Wijiji.com , MySpace.com (Cl;assifieds) ect *** well as the local newspapers .....

    Good luck !!

  3. Apartment complexes, especially the kind you are wanting with the amenities, are pretty sure to check credit ratings.  I'd say save the application fees, you'll need to get your credit ratings up a lot before you'd qualify.  And you aren't likely to be able to raise them enough within 6 months to qualify for a mortgage, so don't be worried about a 6 month lease.

One other thing - he and you do realize that the part time job where he is paid cash is also taxable income and needs to be reported on his tax return - otherwise he's committing the crime of tax evasion and can be in serious trouble at such time as he gets caught - at a minimum, would owe a lot of tax and penalties, which would delay your being able to qualify for a mortgage for quite awhile!

  4. Your saying that you only want to sign a 6 month lease which indicates to me that you are only looking to rent for the short term. You mention wanting to buy a home, which means you need to save enough to be able to do that. Then you say can we get into a decent complex with pool and work out room! First off, I don't mean this in a sarcastic way, but you need to prioitize what it is you want. Save and buy or spend and get immediate enjoyment! If you have family or someone to stay with to be able to save every dime for the purchase of a home, that is great and you should probably take advantage of it. If you need to rent to have a place to live while you save, forget the amenities and get what ever you can afford and allow's you to save as much as possible in the mean time. As far as if you are worried about not getting into a place because of your credit score and lower income, then find a cheap place you think you can afford and save at and offer the land lord either a larger deposit or the deposit and 2 month's rent in advance. That way no matter what, rather you give 30 days notice to vacate or they give it to you, they can't loose because they have a month's rent in advance for security. That is your best option at this point.
