Are there any kind of grants or scholarships where she can attend a local college for free because we can't really afford anything else. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  1. If she is a legitimate citizen, she can qualify for certain types of scholarships: mainly, scholarships for single mothers and scholarships that are based on ethnicity (in this case, your fiancee can qualify for both scholarships offered specifically for Mexicans as well as scholarships offered specifically for Puerto Ricans).

  2. It is all a little bit situational. Is she a legal resident or have a SS#? If so she could apply to fafsa.ed.gov and have all her 07 tax information. That would start the process of applying for grants.

If she is not, she is not elegible for certain grants like the Pell. Then what she needs to do is talk to her schools financial aid office to see how she can apply for institutional money.
