  1. We went ring shopping together and bought both of our rings on the same day, so we both got to choose

  2. Yes, we basically did the same thing. I went with him because even I wasn't sure what I liked. I decided I liked a solitaire, we looked at a nice one and then he had me leave so he could buy it. He surprised me by getting the ring I picked but with a better quality diamond than the one I saw, which meant a lot to me.  I know lots of people do it this way. Being surprised is nice too although there's always a chance that whatever he picks isn't really your type. I'd say both ways are absolutely fine, each have pros and cons! Congrats on getting engaged!

  3. YES i actually just picked my ring up yesterday i LOVE it!

he is in the navy and basically proposed to me after bootcamp graduation when i was up in illinois visiting him . he didnt have time that weekend after bootcamp to get me one and he told me to pick one out that i like and i did =] he paid for it over the phone and i picked it up down here in fl..

i hear alot of people pick their own rings i mean you gotta wear it for the rest of your life! unless you upgrade it sometimes =]

  4. no, but he knew what I liked and disliked from all of the pictures I showed him. I got to pick out my wedding band though. He picked out his ring.

  5. My fiance is a big jewelry giver so we had routinely been in jewelry stores for me tell him my likes/dislikes and had looked at rings a lot of times. He definitely asked me what kind I liked, made me try some on, asked me what I didn't like, etc. at various times. Then he took his information and went to a great jeweler and designed a ring he knew I would love - and he was right! The ring he had made was nothing we had ever seen in a store but incorporated my favorite design aspects so it was as close to "perfect" as it could get! I am in LOVE with my ring and am so impressed that he paid such close attention to the things I said when we were in the stores all those times!!!

  6. yea we went shopping for it together

  7. i picked out the center stone, because i didn't want him getting screwed on the diamond.  i picked out a simple setting, and then he went back and changed it totally, so that i was so surprised when he proposed.  he did a good job.  we picked it out long before we got engaged.  he paid it off, brought it to FL when we moved, and then asked.

  8. We chose it together.  We went to look one day, to see what I liked on and what her could do as for price.  I found a setting I loves for a round diamond and a princess cut stone, so he went back and had them change the setting and create me my prefect ring!

  9. My fiance gave me a budget and told me to go shopping.  I must have looked at over 100 rings so I am glad he didn't make the choice and allowed me to.

  10. Well, he picked out a beautiful ring at Kay Jewelers. I can't wear gold due to an allergy. He saw a platinum band that was nice but he thought the diamond was entirely too small. The woman at the store decided to stretch the prongs to fit the bigger diamond and told him it would be okay to do this. Also, the ring was loose on my finger and would end up on the palm of my hand.. I wore my ring to work for a day and the big diamond was very loose and little diamonds on the side popped out right in front of my co-workers.! Perhaps the lady should not have suggested stretching the band to accomodate the bigger diamond. The store swore to us that they would rectify the problem..Also, they were never able to size my ring finger properly either..The women at the shop said my fingers were deformed and would smirk at us when we came in. I guess they thought it was funny. Sad really! Not really sure why they did this. My husband an I were friendly to them even while we were going through this h**l.

They went through 4 bands. and destroyed every single one of them. A year later I was stuck with an expensive engagement ring that looked very worn. We both were unhappy with our service there. We wanted our money back but they refused. We ended up having to upgrade at Jareds for a different ring.

He felt so bad about what happened that he bought me an even nicer ring! I was never able to wear my engagement ring during the entire time. Some people would ask me if I was still engaged and why I was not wearing my lovely ring. It was so annoying having to explain this over and over again to everyone.  My ring was in repair a whole year at Kay Jewelers and not on my finger. When I would get it back there was something wrong with it.

We both agreed that keeping the diamond or any part of the previous ring was not an option. He did not want me to look at my ring and think about our horrible experience. So, we opted for the past, present and future ring with a different cut diamond.. :0)

Congratulations! Glad you love your ring.. enjoy your engagement!

  11. My husband insisted I go with him as he wanted me to be very happy with the ring.  As we shopped, we noticed many couples shopping together.  It is not unusual for both to select a ring together

  12. I got to pick out  my own :o)  Thank GOD because you should have seen what he was going to get if I wasn't receptive to the idea.  Not that I wouldn't have loved it because of what it meant to me, but I am so happy that I got to pick my own!!!

  13. No, mine chose the rings - he knew me well enough to know what I'd love, after all we were getting married! He made great choices, and it was special and romantic for it to be a surprise!

  14. We went together and both picked it out.

He said he would rather me have a ring I love and would wear all the time then one that I didn't like.

  15. Yes. We designed it together and had it made by a jeweller.

  16. Yes... we went to the store together.  We actually picked it out together.  It has 5 stones representing the 5 children of our blended family, and the 5 yrs we have been together.

  17. im not engaged to my partner yet but we have both agreed that we will go shopping together and pick the ring as i am fussy!! lol!

  18. Yes- we went looking and he got a "good idea" of what i wanted and exactly what i wanted it to look like--- and he went and found it. He did a ot of looking and was abe to get me a bigger and better stone that i even found because he put alot of time and effort into it... but yes i told him.

  19. i hinted a few times to certain things i liked about the rings, but he chose it and suprised me and I LOVE IT!!! :) i couldnt have chosen any better!

  20. Yes, I am the one that is wearing it!

  21. We went ring shopping together. I showed him what i liked from different stores and he could choose from them.

  22. when we first started talking about getting married, we went ring shopping together and i showed him the kinds i liked, for example, i told him i liked yellow gold, i said i liked the princess cut, and i said i liked ones with 3 diamonds... just so he knew what i liked. then he went and bought one himself and surprised me with it.

  23. Nope. He started asking questions ages ago. We would be flipping through a magazine and he would say, "Do you like that? Why?" Until he had narrowed down what I like. Then he went shopping and surprised me with the perfect ring.

  24. my engagement was a total surprise and unexpected... no one knew about it not even his closest friends... he didn't want anyone to accidentally slip, so he did it on his own...

luckily, I am so happy with my ring and it's the most beautiful engagement ring I've ever seen...

he has good tastes... he got me a Tiffany Novo .75ct engagement ring... it's not a huge rock, but it's just perfect because my fingers are really skinny & slender (ring size  3.75) ... so it looks lovely on me...

  25. I picked mine out!! And I love it!!

  26. Yes we've been together four years so he knows how I am and our engagment wasn't a big surprise. So he gave me a budget and told me to go shopping. It took me hours and tons of stores (I figured out my previous favorite style in magazines wasn't what I liked on my finger) but I found the perfect ring at Zales, he took me down there, purchased the ring, and put it on my finger. Even without the surprise of the proposal or ring it was still the most special moment of my life so far.

  27. No ,she just asked me what my choice was ,and got it made ,gave me on the wedding day and i could simply say that it was the best ring i wished for.no doubts i got the best partner too.

  28. My husband asked me to show him on line pics of rings I liked and then he bough me a similar one. I was very happy to be involved!
