Do you think pot should be legalized?

If it were to become legal what ages should be allowed to use it?

If you smoke pot, have you found it harder to feel the pleasures of life when your "low" now?

Do you think it's strange that Europe doesn't care that people smoke but they care that people play M or A rated video games?

Do you think the death rate of pot will become clear once it's legal? - and I say this because I looked all over and I can't find any evidence that they recorded rates of death of people who died from smoking pot.

  1. These things (weed and pot) aren't really bad. They're like alcohol and cigarettes just  a slightly higher level. People have abused these privileges, and thus drugs have been given a bad name.

  2. They should be legalized.

No one ever died of pot overdose!

  3. I live in Nevada where under an ounce of pot is subject to a fine. The voters chose to decriminalize it. Every election since then the move has been made to legalize it. And every time the voters shot it down.

I grew up believing it should be legalized and have never wavered in my stance on the subject.

The big problem is the U.S. government has labeled it the gateway drug. This was an extremely bad tactic or their part. As kids enter their teens they are inevitably exposed to Marijuana. If they try it and like it then it is very possible they will wonder if pot makes you feel this good, do the other drugs that are supposed to be even worse make you feel even better? This would be a very logical assumption for a curious teen. So the government has in a sense created a self-fulfilling prophecy.

If, instead, the government legalized it, it would fall into the same category as tobacco, and alcohol. And within a very short period of time, by historical standards, it would no longer be perceived as the gateway drug.

There is big money in keeping it illegal. Unfortunately all this money is flushed down the toilet. Marijuana will never be stopped. Proof: It is the number one cash crop on the U.S. It's easier for a typical high school student to get his hands on a double sack (Dub) then it is to get a six pack of beer. He doesn't even have to leave school grounds!

If pot was legalized and taxed just like tobacco, alcohol and gasoline, then there would be even more money involved and this taxation influx could be used in more beneficial ways.

The money could be used for funding halfway houses for more serious drug users who have committed no other crimes instead of just slamming them in prison to protect society. Or maybe more homeless shelters and better programs to help people become more employable. Hmmm... Think that would be a benefit to society?

The Reagan Administration declared war on drug use and the casual user. In the 12 yrs of the Reagan/Bush Administration the state of California built 21 new prisons. In that same time span not a single new college was built. But yet depending on the state, it can cost well over $40k a yr to keep an inmate locked up. It would be more cost effective to say; As long as you can continue to pee clean we will provide you with a free college education.

Alas, I don't see it ever being legalized at the National level until there is an effective test to more accurately determine its use. If you smoked a joint before bed, and got in a serious automobile accident on the way home from work the next day you would still test positive for Marijuana use despite the fact that you were not under the influence at the time of the accident.

So we continue to lock them up when it would be cheaper to give them a college grant. What a ridiculous waist of resources. It's a pity.

There is your next school report, Shawn.

  4. Nobody's ever died from smoking pot. Except my friend, but that's another story...................................

The only reason it isn't legal is because they've no idea how to tax the c**p.

  5. people want to be animals

    they wanna make everything legal

one day you'll hear people say drugs are just like alcohol

    it should be legal

people already want to let women go topless

later they'll say let's all walk around naked

    what's wrong with it

they'll say it's ok if kids watched p**n

    they will learn later anyway

people will push it and try to make everything legal

there are many things that shouldn't be legal

    but unfortunately they are

if you're ganna tell me humans are like animals

then go ahead and join the monkeys

  6. I don't care if it is legalized. I don't think Government should be in role to protect us from ourselves. I believe in freedom to choose..even if wrong (according to some).

We waste a lot of resources when Pot is criminalized.

    I don't smoke pot, never did..yeah I was square as a kid. I am over 50...and a Republican.

  7. Ok yes pot should be legalized but only for private use at home pot is very dangerous and if it is legalized only adults should be able to use it not children (above 18 maybe even above 21) and they will have to follow certain laws that should come if weed is ever legalized such as driving under the influence and such weed should mainly be used as a pain reliever for certain people who have had serious injuries weed is safer then prescription drugs which people can die from and have died from I am unsure if people have died from smoking pot but there might be some pot related deaths such as a car accident where someone was high and driving but I am not sure so you'll have to look it up people can't overdose on pot it is after all just a plant but you can over dose on prescription pain medications most of this is just my opinions but some i got from reading about norml (national organization for the reform of marijuana laws). I don't smoke weed but I know people who do. Also I do find that odd but those video games are violent.
