Question:

My finches had four eggs but then broke them. the eggs had yoke this means they were infertile?? please help?

  1. Hi ya! I have finches,  They probably knew the eggs were no good so they destroyed them.


  2. when an egg is fertile little red veins and maybe an embreo would be inside the egg.

    If it was infertile you would only see yoke and the 'white' of the egg.

    When a baby forms inside the egg it is attached to the yoke and altimatly uses the nutrients from the yoke before hatching.

  3. At 5 days old, you would see blood vessels in the egg(s) if the egg was fertile.  When the egg breaks, you would have seen blood coming from the egg.  Unfortunately, I have accidentally knocked a zebra nest down once with fertile eggs so and I know this from experience.

    Chances are if you didn't see any blood, it means that the eggs were infertile and your finches knew it and got rid of the eggs.  

    What you need to do, is make sure the nest is clean(broken or rotten eggs will foul the nest) and let them start over.
