so im a student and in school i have to take note and sometimes when i take notes for too long my ring finger and my middle finger on my right hand (the hand i right with of course) starts to hurt like a kind of sharp feeling, the area around the base of my finger hurts the most then the pain is less as it reaches the tip of my finger, the pain would go away only after i stop writing for a while or until i forget about it

so is this somthing i should worry about?

am i just holding my pencil to hard?

  1. ohhh its normal i get it ALL the time. its just that the gripping is too tight, im a lefty! so my ring finger hurts also its all about grip and so i use those cushion things that u use at the top of the pointy side(led and where u sharpen, i put it there so it reduces the pain heres the link to how the cushions look, and they r very cheap. sorry im a bad explainer!!http://www.waresdirect.com/products/Comm...

  2. It might be because you are gripping the finger too hard. Habits are hard to break, so the best (and easiest) thing would be for you to summarize more in your notes (= less writing). Incidentally, the main idea/picture is what teachers look for, so that's good for school too. You could also try using a pencil or pen with a good grip. That usually works for me. And if it's convenient, then you should take one minute breaks once in a while (like when your teacher is explaining a visual), so your hand can rest. Try these suggestions, and then IF nothing works, you should see a doctor, because then it may be serious. But otherwise, it's probably just that you're overworking your muscles.
