Ok so I had a new fire alarm installed about a month ago give or take a couple of days. Yesterday the thing started beeping. Well I didn't think that the battery was low but still I went today and got a new battery. I replaced it but guess what, it's still beeping.

Also when I but the new battery in I pressed the test button and the thing went crazy beeping and the light was flashing red I have no idea what that means. I took the battery out and but back in and still beeping.

Does anyone know whats wrong with it or what I need to do.

  1. Remove the battery and inspect it for the expiration date. Reinstall it and observ the polarity, most of the sensors have 2  9V batteries, they will last about 6 months. Write the date on the battery when you install them. The small beeps are a signal of low power or the 120 volt line is turned off.  Since the system is this new, call the company that installed it and have them fix it.

  2. Like a short beep beep it's telling you that the battery is flat change them and get a good nights sleep

  3. It could be that there is a low battery in one of the other interconnected units

  4. the battery needs to be replaced

  5. Somewhere down or up the line from you someone has screwed up the wiring or disconnected it.  Call the alarm co and they will fix it.

  6. It is very possible that the new battery is also dead. It happens occasionally.

Is this a combo that also detects CO2 or CO or Radon? It may be signaling one of those problems.

If you have to replace it, next time hang on to the booklet!

  7. well if your fire alarm is beeping and it wont stop then it probably needs a new battery.Mine has done that before and as soon as I changed the battery it stopped.Hope my answer helps!

  8. Hmmm...well I was going to say to replace the battery but since you already did that you could try calling the manufacturer or yor fire department's non-emergency number.
