Question:

My first build, please help me out here. I'm about to install vista!

I am installing on the following hardware and I need to know if I have to get drivers...??? or something before I do this. And If I do need to do anything how do I do it?

Asus M2N motherboard

seagate barracuda 750gb hdd

amd 6000

3gbs DDR2 RAM

lite on dvd-rw cd drive

evga 8600gt

Any help would be very appreciated.

  1. your M/board drivers will be needed. Download or have someone do it for you " PCwizard " and run it it will find a list of drivers needed for your computer note the name and number of drivers and search for them on the web

    EG: cmedia 3425 drivers

    Also check if you need a microsoft sound driver like UAA to make your sound work some computer on board sound do


  2. Hi Sarah,

    You should be ok doing an install of Vista.  I assume that your video card, hard drive, and dvd burner all came with install disks? Each one should let you know if you need to use them. If you need to use their drivers you will use them after you've installed Vista. Also your motherboard should have come with an install disk that you may need to use for the onboard hardware, sound, ethernet, usb 2.0, ieee.  You will be prompted for these but again read your manuals that came with  your components.
