Go to the store, hold them in your hands, play with them, see which one you like more. I like Canon more.

I dont know...that new nikon looks really cool thats the one i would choose.

If it's your first, I'd say go with a Canon Powershot.  It takes great pics and it is easy to use.

really depends on what your using it for....if your just a casual photographer then id go for a canon power shot, something simple. but nikon makes such a nice camera they have amazing digital slr's but they cost quite a bit. I have a canon G7 right now and its nice cause its got a changeable lens kit so its like a less expensive SLR. id go canon until you go pro then nikon all the way
