I just got my permit and my parents and I are talking about cars. I first looked at the Honda CR-V but then saw how much better the Honda Civic and Accord get on milage. So now I have to decide between the two. Which one would be best for my first car(teenage girl)???

I kind of want to stick with Honda but if you have a better suggestion let me know.

  1. Out of the three, I'd get the Civic.

Civic gets the best gas mileage out of the 3. Easy and low cost maintenance. Lower insurance cost (remember, your insurance rate will be pretty high considering you're a teenager and a first time driver).

Accord would be my second choice. However, the gas mileage is poorer (even worse if you get the V6) than the Civic and the insurance is likely higher. Also, the brand new Accord is a big car. I think it might be a little overwhelming for a first-time driver.

CR-V would be the last car I'd look at. Even though it's a mini-SUV, it's still an SUV. The gas mileage is certainly worse than both the Civic and the Accord (4 cylinder model). Plus, since it's your first car, I wouldn't recommend driving an SUV or anything with high center of gravity just yet.

Since you are a first-time driver, I think you should get a car that you want to get some practice on. Civic is the perfect first car since it's inexpensive to maintain and it is the cheapest out of the 3. As you gain some experience, I think that's when you want to move up to bigger, more expensive cars.

Not only that, in times like this, I think gas mileage alone is a pretty big factor. Civic is the way to go.

    Good luck.

  2. Basically you don't really have much of a difference in gas between a straight 4 cylinder civic and a straight 4 cylinder accord, but if you're going for power and speed get the accord in a V6, but its more expensive and less economical on gas.  The civic on the other hand is nice too and it's pretty good and you can do alot to it, it will last forever too if you take good care of it.

  3. The Civic would be your best bet out of those three. The Accord is a little bigger and less fuel-efficient, and the CR-V has, as others have pointed out, a higher center of gravity and requires adjustment to one's driving habits. It's also the least efficient and ugliest out of that bunch.

Hondas have a reputation for quality and reliability, and that's something you'll pay for. Nissans are just as good, if not better, but they tend to be a little friendlier to a buyer. Look at a Nissan Sentra, too.

  4. Mitsubishi Lancer.  You will LOVE it.  Trust me.  Check it out on their website.

  5. The civic is an amazing first car.

    -Its safe

    -Its stylish

    -Its good on gas

-Its a good deal new or used

    -Its good on insurance

    While the honda accord is

    -BIgger

    -Built for families

    -has less MPG

    -Is more to insure

    -Costs more

And the CRV, even though it gets good MPG for an SUV, its still an SUV, and you dont want to be paying that much for gas!

Also, if you like the civic try looking at the Toyota Corolla and the VW Jetta, they're both really good first cars.

If your in for good MPG, go for the corolla

if you want a bit luxury and more safety, go for the jetta

  6. If you're teenage I'd definately go for the Civic.  Much sportier and will handle much better.  The Accord would provide a little more room for you but unless you really need it I'd go for the Civic.

  7. I agree with the Civic.

Also, I disagree with the guy above who recommended Jetta. You will be heavily disappointed when you have to visit the dealership every week.
