  1. A debit card is linked to a checking account. One is about as good as another as cards go. What matters is that the checking account suits you.

All debit cards are prepaid, in the sense that there must be money in your checking account, including overdraft privileges, to cover any debit you put through.

There is an advantage in having a checking account that you use only to make payments, that you keep a low balance there with the rest in a savings account. If someone gets your pin they can not get a lot of money by draining your account.

Pay-pal may reject an account if their software does not work well with the bank's. My main checking account does not work because they reformat my address compared to what my bank uses. Ask your bank whether they are having problems wit Pay-pal.

  2. Go to WalMart, get a prepaid Visa. Visa can be used anywhere and everywhere.
