  1. it's just like roller skating... if u can do that then u will be fine

  2. Ok first off, bong if girls get cold so easily why are girl figure skaters spaghetti strap and one-strap figure skating when guys are wearing t-shirts? Just had to get that out of the way.

    Try to stay of your toepick if your in figure skates. And bend your knees. as for what to wear try sweatpants, a t-shirt, and a sweater ( not a knit one with holes, you get colder). Oh and don't forget the gloves bc ice can hurt bare hands...

  3. ok so ice skateing...=FUN!

    dont dress to outrageous because it is not that cold but honestly your a girl and girls get cold very easy so wear something alittle warm and its not hard at all just hang out and hold onto the board/rail or whatever they have and get used to being on it after prolly 5 10 minutes. you will be used to it and be skateing like michelle kwan

  4. Well! Remember its your first time so forget about all the leotards and legwarmers!

    Long socks are essential, the hireboots can be nasty, and rub your feet, which is painful!  Gloves are also a must! If you fall over, which is likely seeing its your first time, it protects your hands! Wear flexiable jeans, or sweat pants, something easy to move in. And wear layers!  Its cold in the rink! So wrap up! But make it easy to remove a few layers incase you warm up whilst skating!  Skate in outwards strokes, and keep your feet as straight as possible.  Hire skates are often worn inwards, so remember to keep a good posture!  Keep your knees slightly bent and off you go!  The barrier will be your best friend to begin with, but you'll manage without it in no time!

    Good Luck! ^_^

  5. If it helps:

    Ice skating is like ballet, except you're on ice instead of the floor. Both require balance and sometimes even grace. Wear something light that won't get in the way (such as a nice white leotard). Wear white stockings. If you have long hair, you want that out of the way so it won't interfere with looking: make it a pony tail or a bun. Get rid of excess jewelry that will weigh you down (like heavy watches). Wear light earrings. As far as learning to skate, get a taste of the ice first and depend on your friends to help. It will be even better if there is an adult nearby that will help you. I hope this helps and have fun!

  6. here is what to wear:

    NOT JEANS!!!!!! THEY WILL BE TIGHT AND HURT.

    sweats

    longsleeve shirt

    sweatshirt

    wool socks

    thin gloves

    you are probably renting out the rink but if not then there will be hockey players and skaters there. so be careful!!!!!

  7. Just stay calm and dont fell nervous. You have to be strong and dont shake. You might want to put your hands out to keep your balance. Make sure you wear gloves, because you can get fall and your hands will be really cold

    Wear leggings, sweat pants...No jeans you will feel tight...long sleevs and coat. Make sure you are wearing socks, full socks.

    Dont be affraid to fall, my teacher said to keep your balance put my hands out to the side, stay ner a wall.

    It is not that bad. Chill!

    You should also consider taking lessons!

  8. wear what you want, just make sure it's comfortable. and look at what everyone else is doing. and just glide.

    also stay near the wall until you get the hang of it

  9. ice skating is soo much fun! and i know you'll love it once you go!

    here's some tips to keep in mind (for skating):

    1. keep your knees bent to help keep your balance.

    2. keep your arms in front of you for balance as well.

    3. DO NOT push off of the toepick (the ridges in the front of ths skate), you could end up tripping on it and falling.

    4. push off on the side of the blade (the side closest to your big toe)

    5. HAVE FUN!

    tips on what to wear:

    1. sweatpants!

    2. tee-shirt or tanktop

    3. a light sweater

    4. GLOVES!

    5. socks that are long enough to cover your ankles.

    speaking of ankles, make sure you tie your skates really tight so you have enough support on your ankles! they will probably hurt after awhile.

    i would also tie your hair back (if it's long) to keep it out of your face.

    i hope you have a lot of fun!!! (:

  10. It will be cold in there so dress warm. Wear something that will pad your bum when you fall.

    Keep your ankles still, and don't push your stride out too far unless you like the splits.

    The best time to skate is right after the Zamboni glazes the ice.

  11. The key is to keep your knees slightly bent, your balance will come in time as you progress. You are best wearing tight fitting joggers so if you fall over you won't get so wet on the ice. Good luck anyway, hope you enjoy your day.

  12. well if it's your first time ice skating don't be scared hold on to sides until you fell ice born then try it out or grab 1 of your friends hands who knows how to ice skate and let them drag you while your being dragged look at her feet then after about 3 min. try what her feet did.

  13. Remeber to just have fun with it. Bend your knees it helps more than you would think. Don't be nervous and use the wall at first to get used to it. Try not to hold on to people because they will pull you down. One time with my church we went ice skating and I do ice skating like as a sport. So we made a train and they made me be in the front. Some people fell and just pulled everyone and I ended up falling on someones blade. It was funny but it hurt. LOL.Take your time and don't go too fast people fall easily like that.

    Wear pants that for sure. Dress in layers so if you get hot you can take stuff off but if it is cold you will be nice and warm.

    I Hope You Have Fun.

  14. yeah ok,  school trips are cool......take a bagwith a jumper, spare t shirt,   and some munch etc...

    your going to fall over at some point, REMEMBER to close your fists !

  15. wear sweat pants and a light sweat shirt wear gloves too remember to bend your knees too

  16. no problem, my little sisters and i have been in ice skating classes for 3 yrs

    on my first day my instructor told me "keep your knees bent,   if you feel like your going to fall put your hands out in front of you as if you were leaning over an invisible table,     when you just get on the ice march in place and then march while moving it will help you get used to the ice,     take a bag with extra clothes and dont forget wear long socks so the skates dont hurt you and long pants or sweatsand also wear gloves so if you fall your hands wont get hurt and wet."

    P.S. dont worry if you fall nobody is perfect and just have fun

    GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS

  17. Gloves - and be warm.  Try and get figure skates, not the horrid great big boot things - much easier to use.

  18. ahh. tips.

    * bring gloves

    * bring light jacket

    * fall on your butt/ hips.

    * laugh it off

    * always keep knees bent

    * just have fun with your friends. no one else knows how to skate well either.

  19. It depends on the skating rink to what you should wear, At the old one in sheffield I had to wear scarf and hat because it was so cold!

    But at the new one I don't often even wear a long sleeved top, although its adviseable to wear one as it hurts when you fall and the ice IS cold! Find out whether its a heated room or not, and if you don't know, take a bag with your warm stuff in incase! Gloves of some sort are usually a good idea too even if it is heated in there.

    I suggest you wear very thick socks as if your hiring the ice skates from there they tend to be very stiff around your ankles press into your shins. Oh and you probably will fall over, and it will hurt, so jeans or other thick material on your legs is a good idea.

    Also, take plasters, I have been ice skating more times than I can count, but I still get blisters EVERY time.

    A few things about behaviour

    Don't skate around holding hands in a big line with friends, thats really REALLY annoying for other people. If you get scared on the ice usually theres a banister of some sort at the sides, stay close enough to grab onto it but don't go around holding onto the edge if possible...its not cool and there's little kids that need to go around on that!

    hope this helped
