it's a fungus that is very contagous, sperate the contaminated fish and treat them by giving them anti-povous in pets mart your fish will become healthier withing a 2-3 days

Colomaris usually starts near the gills not on the head.

If it looks like white dots or a blanket it is more than likely ich not a fungus.

How long have they been infected and is it getting worse (over other parts of their body?)  If so, it is ich

If it is more in one area only it could be a fungus and needs to be treated with an antifungual.  Also, treat the entire tank.  No not remove any fish.

ask the place where you bought the fish maybe it happens comman at that store explain your problum take pictures even or ask a fish speclist or google it.

First off, check your water quality.

Poor water conditions weaken your fish and leave them vulnerable to all sorts infections (columnaris, fungus etc.)

After you get your water quality fixed then you should be able to treat the fish with anti-biotics, but if the water is poor, they dont stand a chance.

More than likely columnaris, which is often mistaken for a fungal ailment.  The fungus seen is usually a secondary condition, living off of the dead & dying skin caused by columnaris bacteria.  Maracyn & Maracyn II usually clears this up, but their instructions suck.  When treating do a 50% water change daily, & remed, for 10-14 days.

  This is why a separate hospital tank is desirable, a smaller tank is cheaper to med, and easier to do water changes on.

  A true fungus problem on its own is pretty rare, columnaris is fairly common.
