  1. What kind of fish is it and what else do you have in your tank?  What kind of bottom feeder?  Was it nipped at night with the lights off?  If you have live rock it may be a nasty hitchhiker that doesn't show it's face while you have your lights on.  A little more info and we may be able to help a bit more.

  2. I would put the bottom feeder in another tank or bowl. don't flush him. If your tank was recently set up the bottom feeder could be eating at the other fish because he has not enough food or algae at the bottom to feed off of there for he is hungry and trying to eat the algae on the fish. unfortunately its killing them. try going to a pet store and getting the bottom feeder whats called Algae discs. it is food for them that they will suck on and is made of algae or something they really like. They are more meant for when there is a new tank in place or not enough algae to eat. Hope this helps. Also, talk to people at a reputable pet shop that specializes in fish and see if they have suggestions or can tell you a better combination of fish to put together. Good Luck!!!

  3. i would take the bottom feeder out and wait to see how things go. if your other fish are fine. then yea, its probably the bottom feeder.

  4. Your fish may have fin rot.  It will look kind of cloudy and then the fin will start to rot off.  This may be your problem.  You can take a picture and take it to your local pet store and have them look at it.  Fin rot can kill your fish also.  I use melafix to treat fin rot.

  5. Usually bottom feeders aren't aggressive to the point of eating their tank mates, unless its to small a tank then its every fish for itself... but your fish might also have a disease such as 'ick'.  Ick will typically look like your fish has a salty substance on it, white speckles. If one fish in your tank has it they will quickly infect the others. Good news is it is treatable.I am including a site address that addresses this problem for your info. Good luck!!!
