  1. It sometimes depends on weather it is tropical or cold water species. Iknow my fish had a lump on it's side the fish was worth alot not only money but gave me a lot of fun. The lump was a sist caused by a parasitethat burrowed into it's side and was living on the fish. Most of the time you will find this happens or it could be a fungle under the scales . Write down all the symptoms you can and go to the vet with your findings they might be able to help you better. There is no harm trying.

  2. Sounds fishy! lol

  3. I don't know weather fish can get tumors or cancer, but you can't really do much for treating a sick fish other than let it die.  Sorry to tell you that.

  4. My friends gold-fish might have the same sort of thing, is it like a big White/Grey sort of thing by its head if so i would go to your pet store and ask about fungal infections as that's the most likely cause

  5. Does it look like a cotton wool growth?? If so it's a fungal infection. You can buy a treatment for it at any pet-shop. You simply put the correct dosage in the pond/aquarium as stated on the bottle and it will get rid of it. If not, it could be a parasite or white-spot...there are treatments for these too. Don't worry it's probably curable.

Ok, as the first answer says, it could be cancer....but more likely one of my suggestions. You could take the fish out and show it to the pet-shop owner, he would probably be able to tell you what's wrong.
