i have a small, two gallon tank with two goldfish. two days ago i noticed both fish sitting motionless at the bottom of the tank and at times it looked like they were scratching up against each other. they also have a few white spots on their fins and tails. i'm pretty sure they have ick/ich...how do i get rid of this..or could they have something else?

  1. It does sound like Ich.

Do a through gravel vac (to get up any ich microbes on the ground).

Add some salt slowly (over the course of days) to the tank.

If you have a heater slowly increase the temp by 2 deg F (to speed the lifecycle of the ich)

And some of the ich cures I've seen work really well, shop around at either some LFS or Petsmart as they sell several mediactions for this.

    Hope this helps.

    Good luck.

  2. You can get ich medicine/drops at any pet store.  Follow the instructions on the label.  If it's not too late, it will clear the ich right up.  Don't wait though because ich can spread quickly and the fish will die without treatment.

  3. your fish sounds like it has ich one of my fish has ich too. all i do is turn the heater up slowly to 85 degrees also add some salt and about a week later the white spots will disapper but dont stop treatment after 2 weeks you can then turn your heater down slowly
