  1. Male bettas get bored and lose the will to live but you can help them by placing a mirror next to the tank where he will be able to see his reflection.  His territorial instincts will make him come alive and strut around the fish tank with gills flared and fins spread.  You will see an immediate improvement in appetite and he will be a much happier betta.  Using a mirror can't hurt him and is not the same as putting two male bettas together and letting them fight.  It's more like strength and endurance training for bettas.

  2. He may have a chronic swim bladder infection... does this happen periodically, like in episodes, or is it a 24 hour thing? none of my bettas have live plants or 3 gallon tanks and they are just fine. try the mirror thing and if that doesnt work then good luck.

  3. fish live in aquariums (tanks) not cages

does he have a 3+ GALLON with a heater and filter

    maby get some live plants

  4. This may help you out!
