My fish tank is above an outlet. It is the only one in my room that is open and that i have room for the fish tank. I am really afraid that if it leaks it will get into the outlet. They both have plugs in them. Is there anything i can buy that will cover the outlets in case i have a problem? I really cant move my fish tank but thank you for the help.

  1. They have all sorts of plug covers .. Wal Mart ... Target .... GArden Ridge .... those kinda stores.. maybe even Big Lots

  2. Uh...plastic wrap?  Duct tape?

  3. Just as long as it's not touching the outlet, you should be fine.  Remember to have "drip loops" on all your cords, so if there is a leak, it stops at the loop.  One thing I do is put a towel under my tank.  It helps when you're replacing water or pretty much doing anything with the tank!

  4. just use shock guards. they will cover the outlets.

  5. The smartest thing you can do is bend the wires into a drip loop and secure the parts closer to the plug on to the wall above the loop. That way, any water that lands on wires drips to the floor, not the outlet.

    Here's a picture of a drip loop:

  6. just tape a towel around the outlets and remember to droop your cords

  7. make sure the cable has a drip loop
