I have a swordtail. And although he'll eat the freeze dried food, such as the baby brine shrimp, blood worms, and something called daphnia. He won't eat the flakes. He like tries it and then spits it out. I have babies in my tank, so I feed them flakes so the babies can eat it. But I want to know why he won't eat the flakes any more. Is there something wrong with him, or did he just become really picky?

  1. Is he eating his other food without a problem? Check to make sure he's not having problems swallowing and such. He just might not be able to swallow the flakes. If so, he might be sick. If he seems healthy but still rejects the flakes then I would guess at a picky eater although I don't have any experience with swordtails.

  2. Try feeding a different brand of flakes he may just need some variety in his diet.

  3. You did spoiled your swordtail with the good stuff . You should try a different brand maybe the fish  food you have doesn't have the diet he needs. Ok Good luck!
