throughout the year my sons grandparents spoil him like no tomorrow. everytime he visits he comes home with something new, and usually expensive. he has a gamecube, an x box, a ps2, nintendo ds and nintendo sp. im trying to find him unconvential gifts for the boy who has everything. he expressed interest in coins, so i got him some foreign coins and some pressed pennies. as well as some foreign banknotes. he has a special box that he uses to hold things like a 2 dollar bill, seashells, stamps, coins, etc. just wondering what others think would be appropriate. he's really into fossills, extinct animals, space, dinosaurs, he's not like your average 5 year old. he has an iq of 154.

  1. Get him a coin collecting thing, or books about fossils and space.

I had that high of an iq at that age and my parents got me things like that. I loved reading books about dinos and space too. Just get him those

  2. Re wrap he may have forgotton treasures, or I would surprise him by taking him somewhere speacial and not tell him, maybe there are things he likes and would love to see or do,sometimes the most simple things are the best. We took our 9 yr old to the drive inn ate there he loved it. .

  3. My son gets overloaded by grandparents too~I understand.

We got my son "Eyeclops" for Christmas. He loves it. It is very interesting for boys because they can magnify everything & see it on the television!

  4. Is it nice out where you live? If so you could get him a bouce house. I got one for my son for about 200 at Toys R Us and he loves it. You could even set it up secretly and then take him outside.. =]

  5. my kids are academically ahead of themselves too, and we have the same problem with the grandparents (though thank goodness they haven't thought of the video games yet).  you can try a game, like chess, chinese checkers, boggle, or mastermind.  guitar is hard for a kid with very little hands, but my kids adore piano (i'm not saying you should buy him a piano, of course, but consider if he'd enjoy a keyboard and some piano lessons).  snap circuits are a fun science project.

but also consider some typical little kid things, especially active things, because iq aside, he's still a kid! does he have a bike? a soccer ball? a t-ball stand and a baseball glove? rollerblades? a kite? stomp rockets? some good building stuff like legos or marble track (my kids adore marble track).

you could also take him somewhere instead of a gift.  or consider a magazine (check out "click" or "ask" by the makers of ladybug since he's into science).

  6. stop spoiling him! he'll be horrible as a teenager if you keep doing this. and talk to his gparents about this too. he will become rotton little brat eventually if ya keep doing this seriously ok you may not notice this but the kids who get coloring paletts for their birthdays because they're parents gotta make sure they have enough for their kid to go to college someday are nicer than the rich kids whose parents spend $500 each of their bdays on presents and parties are the mean spoiled rotton brats i'm not saying that well ok yeah just stop letting him get soo much stuff he's only 5 goin on 6. ok well u dont have to get him coloring paletts get him something like one of those Dinosaur Fun Learning Kits, or a Klutz Stamp Collection Book, or maybe a Mini Planetarium Do-It-Yourself Kit those are some fun things that i've heard of that he'll probably enjoy:)

  7. He is spoiled so get him nothing

  8. How about an ant farm or butterfly pavilion, science kits, teach him to build with wood or car models.

    trampoline, skates, bike, skip it,

  9. musical  inst ruments
