  1. It is very common for this age.  I suggest not worrying about it so much.  Many children have this until they are 6 or 7.  She will eventually get it right.  Don't drill it so much, don't make a big deal of it.  Make her education fun and enjoyable.  Not many people go away to college still making their 2 s backwards.

  2. If she is not having trouble writing a 3, have her write 'half a 3' and stop.  That's a 2, poorly formed, but not reversed.  Once she learns that a 2 and a 3 start the same way, her difficulty may be lessened. No, I'm not recommending 'half-3s' as a permanent solution.

Good luck to you and to her.

Have her work with these.  Overall, I wouldn't worry about it too much at this age.  But if a student has trouble writing certain letters or numbers, I usually guide them back to the sandpaper letters to try it there first.  It leaves a better impression of how the letter/number is supposed to be written as opposed to simply writing it.  You can sense it a lot better with these materials and it leaves a more lasting impression in the mind.

  4. your student is probably smart!! my daughter did the same thing when she was in kindergarten and she was doing that with all numbers. Now she is in 2nd grade and she is just fine. Some kids do that.

  5. ask her to write the number the same way she does...

after that, ask her to erase the diagonal line (\) and write the diagonal line going the other way (/)...

  6. dunno but i always wanted to write it this way

  7. Ok go to like a book store and buy one of the little number books and let her develope from there

  8. Does the student do this with letters like b and d? Growing up I had mild dyslexia and I still write certain things backwards if I am not paying attention. Don't drill them they are only 5 just keep an eye on it and if it continues to be an issue maybe consult a dr. or special needs teacher for advise.

  9. try doing it big in your sand box or on the white board/chalk board, and make the motion in the air.

  10. Dint worry your child will most likely grow out of this.  it may get worse before it gets better.  This is commen for children this age.  If you feel a major concern the see the speech therapist at you school, they can test your child to see if they are where they should be.

  11. When she is writing help her or talk to her Mom or Dad.

  12. I had the same problem I showed my daughter how to draw a duck the outline is the same and it makes it fun they learn better when its fun

  13. It is very common for children to do this. I would not be too concerned. Just continue to observe the child and model the correct way to write it.
