  1. There's a spring that runs between these 2 keys, it will have come out of  it's resting place, and you should see it touching the side of the finger 2 key.  If you are careful you can push it gently down with your fingernail and it should slot back into place.

  2. clean it out!

give it a really good cleaning and if that doesn't work, ask your instructor for some help because its not fair if your instrument doesn't work!

  3. HI jb,

It is really hard to guestimate what the issue is with your flute, but it could be one of two things.... either the mechanism is gunky and is dragging both keys down when the F key is played OR the spring in between the two keys - and underneath... has slipped off it's prong.  In any case,  this looks like a job for the woodwind repair technician.  You don't want to cause any damage to your flute... and at this point it does not sound like it is damaged.  It sounds like a very minor problem.    Take it in to the repair shop and ask if it is easy enough for you to wait for the repair.

    Thanks for reading.

Don't worry...  I really, really don't think it is serious.

  4. Maybe a s***w is loose? You should definitely talk to your director and see about either taking the test later or borrowing a flute to test on.
