He seems smaller then his friends who are younger than him or the same age. He only eats 24 ounces a day and no more. His weight seems low comparred to them. Also when he wakes up in the morning he is not hungry untill 10 am. HE wakes at 7am. Is he just not a morning persono?

  1. A baby should double their weight by 6 months, which means he has 2 months to gain 1.5 lbs to get to 14.14 which he will get to no problem.  Eating 24 oz a day is ok.  Not all kids are 50 percentile, and it can change.  My niece is the same age as my son, both turning 3 in a few weeks.  She was very petite the first year.  She was wearing clothes 2 sizes smaller than her age, so at 12 months she was wearing 6 month clothes.  My son is a horse and at 6 months was wearing 24 month clothes.  Well needless to say, its evened out.  Both kids now are 38-39 inches, and 35 and 37 lbs.  They both wear a 3T pant and 4T top.  Also kids should triple their weight by 1 year, but my niece did not, she was 4 oz. shy and nobody was worried.

  2. My son is 2 1/2 and on the same height and weight as a 3 1/2 year old. Take into account you and your partners height and weight. So it goes to show each baby is different. Also if he is a small baby, then he will weight less then bigger baby's of his size. As long as he isn't malnourished and doing well in his development there is no need to worry. The health visitor would have brought it up with you, if they though there was a problem.

Edit - My niece is the same way. She just isn't a morning baby. Will eat around 11ish and then not even cry or whinge fro food until dinner time. My brother has to offer her food through out the day but she is the correct weight and is not malnourished in anyway. I guess all baby's really are different.

  3. His weight gain is fine.  A bit lower than 'average' but still well within normal bounds. (He's gained about 1 1/2 pounds a month -- the average is 2 pounds a month.)

All babies are different.  My daughter was 17 1/2 pounds at one year. My neice was 25 pounds at 4 months. They are both healthy.

  4. well for his height and age  wieght hsould be fine though

he should be around 15 pounds

    maybe eat a little more?!?!?

  5. my 4 1/2 month old twins are just over 14 1/2 pounds. Was your baby a preemie? what was his weight when he was born? You have to take other things into account too. If your doctor isnt worried you shouldnt be!!
