my gas ford 4000 will not start. When i turn the key there is nothing. I could hit the starter with a hammer and it would turn over and start..Then that stopped working, I had the starter rebuilt and replaced the solenoid and battery and it still wont start. I did manage to get it to turn over 1 time by smacking on the starter with the ball peen....The only thing that i can even think of is maybe the rebuild job on the starter was a ripoff....can anyone help me?...thanks

  1. well yes the person who rebuilt your starter may have ripped you off, or your alternator is gone.. or your wire if faulty, check all that and if you can figure it out you may have to take ti to a tractor dear, good luck

  2. Pull the starter back off and bench test it. If it spins check the engine for free/easy rotation. Probably the starter ain't got the OOMPH left to crank it over.

  3. haha. hit it with a hammer. nice! i like the way you think. id say the starter rebuild was a p**s poor job. and check your spark plugs and fuel lines
