My ford aerostar van transmission is not catching ?

my friend was over here and he said it was probably a transmission sensor but i dont know about cars it revs up to like 5000 rpms then catches help tahnks

  1. Check the vacuum line going to the modulator valve on the transmission. If it is disconnected you will have late upshifts.

    This particular transmission model (A4LD) does use a modulator up until about '95 when it was changed to electronic controls.


  2. not much info but mite be low on fluid or the band and or clutches are bad. could just be a plugged filter.

  3. its a ford and most of them dont have modulators thats on gm trannies and since its a ford the most likely cause is the bands and clucthes are goin out but try a filter change it may help
