I'm a singer/songwriter and radio presenter and the audacity on my old laptop worked fine for the show. But now it's behaving strangley since I've got a new laptop. It keeps cutting out when im talking or singing. Ive got 3 different mics ive tried, but its not them...

Also I've tried wavepad free version and I can't get it to record from my computer. Say my media player or youtube. It always worked on my old computer, I don't understand whats going on?

Any help would be GRRREEEAAATT...

Thank You

  1. 1. go to control panel, Sound and Audio Devices Properties, voice tab, test hardware button, try out the microphone and the playback see if the cut out exist, if yes, it's not the mic problem, it might be the sound card driver/software problem, you need to go to the manufacturer web site to download and install the latest driver/software of the sound card.

    2. ctrl+p to go to preference, audio i/o tab, the device: boxes for both playback and recording is your sound card name, e.g. something like "Realtek High Definition Device", click ok, close audacity, restart audacity. If the device type is other than your sound card name, like microsoft sound mapper, there might be a problem.

    3. if your laptop is on VISTA, here's the link http://www.audacityteam.org/wiki/index.p... that would tell all about audacity and vista that you needed to know

    Hope this helps.
