  1. Hi,

I'm not a linguistics speacialist, but I guess not.

The russian alphabet is cyrilic while the japanese is not (I think).

    Also they don't sound similar.

Now, although portuguese (my language) and russian use completely different alphabets, the sounds are quite similar in some aspects and russians have little trouble approaching our pronnounce and vice-versa.

    Kind regards,

  2. the sound quite different, but hen most languages sound the same when you dont speak them....

the big similarity is the use different letters to english, french, spanish etc, so they are vaguely similar in that sense, but the little japanese i speak sounds very different to the russian ive heard.

  3. I would have to say no. Here's a phrase translated into both Russian and Japanese. See for yourself how different they sound:

Моё судно на воздушной подушке полно угрей

(Moio sudno na vozdušnoy poduške polno ugrey)

    私のホバークラフトは鰻でいっぱいです

(Watashi no hobākurafuto wa unagi de ippai desu.)

  4. dont know

  5. They may sound a little alike, but they belong to two unrelated language families and use different writing systems.

  6. There is absolutely no relationship between the two languages.

  7. A Japanese friend once told me that he thought Russian sounded similar to Japanese. Only in the phonetic sound of pronunciation though, not in any other way.
