  1. I would still suggest a heater mainly to keep the water at a constant temp.

Keep an eye on the temp at night when things have cooled off to see what the temp is at. If it still stays at around the same temp (like say it was 80 during the day and at night, it gets to 76).... then I wouldn't worry about a heater right now, but as someone else said, when it gets colder, you'll want to get a heater to make sure the temp stays warm for the fish.

  2. if the temperature drops below 68 at night get a heater

  3. how long has the water been in there?

  4. Will it allways stay at that temperature? Winter? Bad weather? When the central heating goes out?

If you cant gaurantee that it will, get a heater, just to be sure.

They also help even out any fluctuations in the tank temp and just keep things more stable.,

  5. If the tank is consistantly that temperature even in the cold winter months than no, but if the temperature fluctuates below that ever than yes.  Its fine to turn a heater off in the summer if the temp stays high but its always a good idea to have one around when it starts to dip.

  6. not sure what the temperature is in the winter time in your house, but you may find yourself adding a heater later to keep it stable.
