My friend's coworker bought me cupcakes for my b-day that's in 2 days. Would it be rude if I eat them now?

I'm SO desperate to eat them tonight. But I'm afraid he might get mad. They're a dozen of cupcakes. & by Monday, of course there will still be some left.

I asked him if it's OK to eat 1 now, & he said, "Why don't you wait until Monday? Why u wanna eat 'em now? That don't make no sense. For all that, I should've waited until Monday to buy them for you."

But he didn't tell me a direct yes or no. I'm confused. Do you think he would get mad?

  1. Hey, he gave them to you, they are now your cupcakes to do with what you want to do with them.  Eat them now or they will be all dried out by Monday.  If he gets mad shove one in his face and say....are you glad I shared one with you?

  2. I don't care if they get mad

    1. EAT THEM WHILE THEY ARE FRESH

    2. they are yours, whats he gonna do NEVER buy them again?

Save them for over the weekend? That makes no SENSE.

YES he will probably get mad,

Too bad at least you will have had them fresh....

  3. It was in poor etiquette to be given a perishable gift that early if it wasn't allowed to be consumed as you desired. I say if he didn't want you to eat them until Monday he should have gotten them for you on Monday.

  4. He told you, ''no wait till monday.''

  5. The cakes are your gift so eat them before they get stale. Happy Birthday.

  6. if he gets mad he's a jerk... go ahead

  7. how would he know if u had eaten one anyway??he doestn live in ur home right??the thing is baked goods dont taste as good as they are after a few days.but then if he doesnt want you to eat it then i guess you should respect his wishes cuz he was nice enough to get you something.

  8. hes retarded of course u eat them now in to days they'll

    old

    expired

    dry

    stall

    and worthless like ur co-worker

  9. no go and eat the cupcake. he gave it to you didnt he? its yours now . if he gets mad tell him that it just look so great or compliment some how and apoligize.

  10. Well, maybe he wouldn't if you say "I want to eat them now because they look so good! Thank you so much for buying them for me! They're sooo tempting!"

I think that he personally wants, very very much, for you to eat it on your birthday. If it is THAT tempting that you can't wait until your birthday, then go ahead and eat one if you must.

If you do, you should offer one to him also.

If you really, really, really, care about his feelings, you should save it.

But, as everyone else said, it IS yours. So go ahead, do anything you want with it.

  11. That's like saying "here's a million dollars but you can't spend it until monday!" Why would he buy you cupcakes and then tell you to wait until monday to eat them. Go ahead and eat them and then blame it on the kids, siblings, spouse or the dog lol.

  12. He showed lack of etiquette by giving you a "perishable" gift and expecting you to "waste" it by letting it ruin by going stale before you can enjoy it.  If he was so "worried" about you not eating the cupcakes until Monday he should have waited until Monday and then given them to you on your Birthday, but instead he "tempted" you with them on Friday.

I say eat them and enjoy them.  Why waste something so delicious and so mouth watering when they are in their prime.  I you do choose to wait until Monday they will be stale and no as yummy and delicious as he intended them to be.

Don't worry about him getting mad, it's your Birthday not his.  It was his poor etiquette of giving a perishable gift before time.  Therefore you were "forced" into the situation of eating them before they spoiled.

If her asked tell him that they had began to spoil but you enjoyed them tremendously and thank him a million times.  Also, remember that when his Birthday comes around to treat him as well.  I wish I was their because cupcakes are my favorite!!!!  Eat'em up!!!  Happy Early Birthday to go along with the luscious cupcakes!!!

    Peace & Love  :)

  13. He already told you he wanted you to wait until Monday -- twice.  (He asked you to wait till Monday AND he told you he would have waited until Monday to buy them for you if he knew you were going to jump the gun.)  He even asked you why you wanted to eat them now.  If you were really so desperate to eat them now, you should have just told him honestly how desperate you were.

I don't know if he would get mad, but I think it would not be unreasonable if he got mad.  It would be different if you didn't ask him; but you did ask, and he told you he wanted you to eat them on your birthday.

Yes, they were a gift for you.  Yes, they are in your possession and you have the power to eat them.  It would be poor etiquette if you did, though.
