  1. I have hyperthyroidism and went through the surgery your friend requires.  My eyes went almost completely back to normal after the healing process.  It is a major surgery with all the risks that go along with major surgery.  My eyes were sewn shut for 2 days after and even once the stitches were removed it was a little while before I could open them fully.  Regardless of any and all the risks I am extremely happy with the results and would do it again in a heartbeat.  My hyperthyroidism went into remission and my eyes are still lookin good so Im not sure of any real side effects except for improved self-esteem and confidence!

feel free to email me if you have any more questions and I wish your friend good luck!
