Homeowner's insurance does not cover appliances (the boiler itself or piping itself) or normal wear.  You didn't say if there was any actual damage to the home.  If something happens and the owner does not take immediate action to reduce further damage (removing the water and drying out the home), insurance will not cover subsequent damage that could have been avoided.
